Every now and then, a car comes up for sale that’s more than just metal, rubber and paint. This Cobra is one of those machines. Born from the precision craftsmanship of Hi-Tech Automotive and brought to life by the raw power of a hand-built 408W stroker motor, it’s as serious as it looks.
Built on one of the finest Cobra chassis platforms in the world, this car started life as a Hi-Tech shell — the same pedigree you’ll find in Backdraft and Superformance cars shipped globally. But this one was destined for something special. Dropped into the engine bay is a 408-cubic inch Ford small block stroker motor, built by All American Muscle, who sourced and assembled the drivetrain with no shortcuts and no compromises.
The engine started life with a 351 Windsor block, but that’s where anything "stock" ended. It was stroked to 408 cubic inches using an Eagle rotating assembly and a steel crank. Forged pistons, performance bearings, a custom-ground hydraulic roller camshaft from Comp Cams, and a full Edelbrock aluminum top end give this build a race-ready heartbeat with street-friendly manners. The Holley Ultra HP 750cfm carb keeps the fueling crisp, and the MSD ignition system brings reliability and strong spark at every rev. It’s loud, brutal, and extremely responsive — everything a Cobra should be.
Matched to that is a built C4 automatic transmission with a 2600rpm stall converter. It’s smooth when you’re cruising but ready to rip when you need to launch hard. No need to shift, just floor it and go. The combination of lightweight bodywork and over 450 horsepower on tap makes this car devastatingly quick, especially considering it tips the scales at less than most modern hot hatches.
This particular example is nearly new, with just 1700 km on the clock since the build was completed. Every inch of the car feels fresh — from the paint and trim to the way it runs and drives. It’s not some old kit project. It’s a purpose-built, professional-grade performance car that just happens to look like a classic Cobra. But the truth is, it will walk away from most modern muscle cars without breaking a sweat.
Underneath, the chassis and suspension setup from Hi-Tech keeps everything planted and balanced. The car is street legal and road registered, and doesn’t just sound like a beast — it feels dialed in. The brakes bite hard. The steering is tight. The exhaust note will shake windows. It’s exactly what you want a Cobra to be — fast, raw, beautiful, and a little intimidating.
If you’re looking for a toy to baby and polish in the garage, this isn’t for you. But if you want something that will get your heart rate up every time you start it, something that’ll turn heads at every fuel stop and smoke the tyres when you ask it to, then this is the car you’ve been waiting for.
No dreamers, test pilots, or tyre kickers. This Cobra is the real deal and it’s priced accordingly.
