The car, advertised on social media, was a diamond in the rough, a shadow of its former glory. But Clyde saw beyond the rust and patches, envisioning a pristine restoration that would bring the Impala back to its former glory. With determination in his heart, Clyde arranged a car trailer, enlisted the help of his son, and embarked on a journey to Nelspruit to claim his dream car.

However, lacking the means to build it himself, Jim scoured the internet until he stumbled upon Harper Sports Cars in 2013. Convinced that the Harper Type 5 was the answer to his automotive dreams, Jim flew to Cape Town to meet Craig, the builder behind Harper Sports Cars, and promptly ordered one.

A Childhood Dream, A Muscle Car Legacy
Growing up in the presence of his racing enthusiast father, Daan Boonzaaier, Allen was immersed in the world of speed and horsepower. Daan's record-setting '70 Camaro, which dominated tracks like Tarlton and Rainbow Dragstrip, left an indelible mark on young Allen. He spent his formative years at the track, absorbing the sights and sounds of roaring engines and burning rubber, fueling his passion for muscle cars, and igniting a dream of one day owning a Camaro of his own.

Pieter's love affair with muscle cars began long before he laid eyes on his beloved Mustang. Having bought and sold several classic cars over the years, including a 1966 Karmann Ghia, 1951 Ford F1, and a 1976 Mini, Pieter's passion and determination were evident. However, it was the allure of a 1965/66 Fastback Mustang that truly captured his heart.

Rear-Mounted Transverse Engine (Harper Type 5)

In a rear-mounted transverse engine setup, the engine is positioned at the rear of the car with its crankshaft aligned side-to-side, perpendicular to the direction of the car. This layout is commonly found in smaller cars and front-wheel-drive vehicles, including Harper's Type 5 model.
