There’s nothing like bringing a classic back to life — especially when you can do it on a modern, precision-engineered foundation. Steelroad Rod & Custom has developed a complete range of chassis systems for the 1955–1958 Chevrolet 3100, offering builders the perfect starting point for a world-class RestoMod or street truck project.
Each chassis is designed and built locally with performance, geometry, and craftsmanship in mind. Whether you want to keep it period-correct with Jaguar components or push boundaries with a fully independent setup, Steelroad has you covered.
Option 1 – R152,950 incl. VAT Chevy 3100 (1955–1958) with Jaguar XJ6 Front & Rear Suspension Mounts Option 1 brings you a fully fabricated 1955–1958 Chevy 3100 chassis, pre-engineered for Jaguar XJ6 front and rear suspension. Every mounting point is precision set to the correct angle, ensuring perfect geometry, road holding, and a driving experience that feels like a modern performance vehicle — not a 60-year-old pickup.
Option 2 – R225,400 incl. VAT Chevy 3100 (1955–1958) with Steelroad Independent Front Suspension & 4-Link Rear Option 2 takes things up a notch with Steelroad Rod & Custom’s own wishbone independent front suspension system. The rear setup can be configured either for Jaguar XJ6 mounting brackets or for Steelroad’s complete triangular four-link system — perfect for those running a solid axle differential. This setup uses a 5x120 PCD bolt pattern, allowing easy fitment of modern wheel options.
Option 3 – R237,000 incl. VAT Chevy 3100 (1955–1958) with Full Steelroad Independent Front & Rear Suspension Option 3 is the flagship of the range. It’s a fully engineered chassis with both front and rear Steelroad Rod & Custom independent suspension systems. The rear is purpose-built to accept BMW E36, E39, and E46 differentials, offering a strong and tunable performance base. With a 5x120 PCD, this chassis is ready for high-end wheel fitment and exceptional handling.
For builders who want to take it even further, Steelroad offers a complete air ride upgrade for any of the above chassis options. For an additional R43,700 incl. VAT, the system includes air bags, valve bank, controller, aluminium tank, and dual compressors — with all brackets pre-fitted for a clean, bolt-in installation.
All chassis are treated in black etch primer for protection, with optional powder coating available depending on your colour preference and supplier cost.
Steelroad’s independent front suspension kits are also available separately as a bolt-on system, including a power steering rack, brand new Toyota D4D six-pot Brembo calipers, and massive 370mm discs designed for 19” or 20” wheels. Priced at R55,200 incl. VAT, and available in 5x114 or 5x120 PCD, this kit delivers serious stopping power and a modern driving feel.
The Steelroad Rod & Custom chassis range sets a new benchmark for the South African RestoMod and custom truck scene — built tough, engineered precisely, and designed to make your classic Chevy handle like a modern performance machine.
