1966 Chevy C10 Fleetside Pickup Truck

If you know anything about Racing on aKyalami Grand Prix Circuit, you will see that they are not afraid to modify, improve and chop some of the most exotic cars. All this is to make them better and more insane. Lamborghinis, Ferraris, McLarens, Porches, GTRs and the list goes on. We know they have some crazy skills to do extensive modifications on cars and build some proper custom cars. They have taken on a project that would normally not be associated with theman old-school American Truck.

A 1966 Chevrolet C10 Fleetside truck was inherited from one of Races customers. The initial idea was to make it a bit prettier and do a quick flip. But, as happens quite often, they fell in love with it and decided to go big. They thought it was great fun to build a farm truck that would happily cruise around the buzzing metropolis of Joburg.

The first thing you will notice about this truck is its patina paint job. It is, in fact, a real patina which is not often found in these modern times where a faux patina finish can be achieved by wrapping the vehicle. The truck already had this wonderful finish which was done in Cape Town, when they were given the truck. So all they did was put some signature touches on the body.

First, they blacked out all of the chrome bits. The door handles, side C10 & Fleetside badges, fuel cap, front bumper and front grille pieces were painted satin black. This was to create a more sedated look which fitted in with their usual styling. The rear headlights were also blacked out to continue this feel right through the vehicle. They applied some Race Speed Shop custom airbrushing onto the doors and purposely made it look faded in order to fit in with the rest of the bodywork. 

To bring this 66 truck into the 21st Century, the original headlights were thrown away and replaced with custom Jeep Wrangler LED Xenon headlights. They tackled the wheels next and now they are as modern as you can get. Under the arches sit rather large satin black 21 Forgiato F-Clinique Billet 3-piece rims. They are wrapped in 265/30/21 Continental Sport Contact 6 tyres. The truck has a full custom air suspension that was installed to enhance the ride for comfort and to improve handling.

The original brakes on these trucks were not great so they replaced them with a Wilwood 6-pot system in the front. Allowing this heavyweight to stop on a dime. A brake upgrade was also necessary. Because under the hood the original inline 6-cylinder motor was removed and replaced with a beefier 350 small block V8. This gives this truck some decent horses. Attached to this is an easy-to-drive 3-speed automatic gearbox.
