Local custom shop, King’s Customs launched its own brand of 20-inch custom steel wheels (Steelies) for the old school pick-up, Hot Rod, and custom car market.
Large steel wheels or Steelies as they are known in the market have been a big trend in the Old School Pickup and Hot Rod market over the last few years. Normal cars with steel wheels only go up to 17-inches. However, there has been a growing demand for much bigger steelies. These steel wheels have been available to import from the USA from selected companies.
This is however expensive with the cost of importing and local import taxes associated with aftermarket products. With the mineral shortage currently, the cost of Steelies and the import thereof have gone up. Local custom car shop, King’s Customs, decided it was time to make things local.
Clarence Davidson, owner of King’s Customs wheels explains. “We are so quick to look overseas for products that our local market needs. We overlook the fact that we have the skill and ability to make them locally.
The New range of steelies is available in two different styles, namely smoothie with chrome dome, and Ratrod steelies. The 20-inch steelies are available in 8j and 9j, with multi PCD for 5 studs as well as in 6/139 PCD.
