1970 Suffolk SS100 is now available from Crossley and Webb.
All the fizz and looks without the pain of an original.
The Suffolk SS100
Suffolk Sportscars was established by Roger Williams over 20 years ago. They focus on reproducing the legendary Jaguar SS100. They build a whopping 15 cars per year.

This golden gem is based on a 1970 Jaguar SS100. It features a 4.2l straight-six engine with twin SU carburettors (HS8s) and an electronic ignition. As well as a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive.
The current owner’s mechanic has the following things to say: “After the purchase from Suffolk, we had it set up and checked on the rolling road here in the UK”. He adds that they had a fitted cover made and attended to some minor jobs.

When the car was sent to SA, it got an export registration, duties were paid and the car got SA registered in February 2016.

Due to the much nicer stainless-steel exhaust fitted, it now packs much more punch with a lot more power. The bonus is that the exhaust note is nicer without being offensive and looks great under the bonnet.
In 2018, it had a service (fondly called a look and love), with oils and filter changes, as well as brake and clutch fluid changes, together with some minor jobs. It is ready to go!

This car comes with a service file from 2011 and locked in the rear compartment is the build & maintenance manual from Suffolk.
He says “It looks, feels, smells and is almost pre-war until you drive it.. then the expected bone shake ride does not happen. Furthermore, the light and direct steering have no stop.”

This is not a temperamental hot rod. It’s on twin SUs and will work well with South African low octane fuel. Furthermore, the interior is spotless and brand new. Finally, it has a beautiful gold colour and new Blockley tyres.
For the money, you get a lot more fun than the original SS100 and between the original and a Suffolk, the Suffolk is the one you will drive.
